12 survival aids
- Put down your glass between sips.
- Try to do something whenever you are drinking e.g. board games, reading, pool, dancing or crosswords.
- Go later to the pub/bar than usual so that you drink less and don’t get caught up in round buying.
- You buy a round, don’t buy a drink for yourself. Enjoy the pleasant effects of a moderate amount of alcohol.
- Avoid going to places where you know it will be difficult to drink at your own pace.
- Note down how much you used to spend on a nights drinking. Note down what you spend now. Put the extra aside and buy yourself luxury.
- Simply don’t drink drinks that are bought for which you don’t want, hide them if necessary.
- At a party always measure out your drinks so that you know how much you have drunk.
- Don’t have glass ‘topped up’ with alcohol.
- Top up your glass with lemonade now and again. You’ll be surprised how high it makes you.
- Remember, a few drinks can help you relax but a lot make you look stupid.
- It’s up to you what you drink shandy, cola or whatever people aren’t looking at your drink so just relax.
